4 Practical Ways To Fight Procrastination

Procrastination is doing things later which you can do now. There are good sides of procrastination but let me tell you from experience that the bad sides of procrastination are bigger and worse especially when it comes to the consequences of doing it.

Way back in high school, I did procrastinate a lot. I procrastinated in doing my homeworks, my reports, and even in studying my lessons for the exams. It was okay at first because I thought it was okay since everyone else was doing it. But later on I’ve realized the importance of preparation. That when you give yourself enough time to prepare for the things that you are supposed to do then you’ll end up with a better outcome.

I’ve been a great procrastinator and a person who manages to do things early and on time. I’ve been on both sides that’s why I can speak to you with confidence that the practical ways that I’ll be sharing with you below are proven to be effective if you’re going to execute it properly.

Here are the 4 practical ways to fight procrastination...

1. Schedule Your Day

Create your schedule whether it be a day-to-day basis, weekly basis, or a monthly basis it’s up to you. What’s important is that you’ll have a glimpse of the things that you should do because one of the reasons why people procrastinate is because they forget the things that they should do.

2. Set Smart Goals

It’s not enough to set goals. You should set smart goals. Goals are said to be “smart” when they are precise and concise. Don’t set goals that are broad because you’ll find it hard to achieve due to lack of ideas on how you can execute those kind of goals. Having precise and concise goals will help you to achieve those goals easier and faster.

3. Avoid Distractions

As much as possible separate yourself from all the distractions around you. If the television in your room is distracting you because of its loud volume then turn it off. If your smartphone is taking much of your attention instead of your attention being directed on the things that you should do then set aside your smartphone. The goal is to keep you focused on what you should be doing.

4. Surround Yourself With Goal-oriented People

Jim Rohn said “You are the average of the five people you spend most time with.” Surrounding yourself with goal-oriented people will help you become goal-oriented too. You’ll acquire the character of being goal-oriented from those people that you surround yourself with. And make sure that you also surround yourself with people who are going to support you in accomplishing that things that you should do.
